CRAVE IN THE DARK

alt

"Crave in the Dark" was one of the world’s most exciting life-changing experiences that took place on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. The event was a collaboration between Dialogue in the Dark Egypt and Crave, in celebration of World Sight Day and was sponsored by Madinet Masr. The initiative was in support of the visually impaired, aiming to improve their livelihoods, raise awareness on the topic, and work towards creating more accessible communities for them.

Participants entered a darkened Crave branch on the day of the event, where they were asked to indulge in an authentic food experience. The duration of the 3-course experience was 90 minutes. During the event, individuals had the opportunity to explore unseen surroundings and learn to perceive their environment through the senses of touch, taste, smell, and sound. Guided by blind or visually impaired individuals and assisted by a white cane, participants rediscovered different environments in absolute darkness. The donation made during the event contributed to the overall goal of supporting the visually impaired community and fostering more inclusive communities.

GAZA RELIEF

Madinet Masr had joined forces with the Egyptian Food Bank as part of their Gaza Urgent Relief program to alleviate some of the extreme hardships faced by our families in Palestine. Through this collaboration, we provided meals that would last them for two weeks, and we pledged to continue supporting them during the upcoming period.

Madinet Masr had also set up donation campaigns in collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent at Taj City on October 20th and 21st and Madinet Masr’s Head Quarters on October 26th. These campaigns aimed to gather support and resources to further aid the Palestinian community in their time of need. The collective efforts sought to address immediate challenges and work towards creating a positive impact on the lives of those affected by the ongoing injustices.
